Futuresource 2009 floorplan expands to meet strong demand
Stand space at Futuresource 2009, the new event for the waste and resources management sector at London ExCeL, is in such demand that the exhibition floorplan has been expanded by over 20%, with 3,000 m2 of additional space.
Futuresource, organised by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) in partnership with the Environmental Services Association (ESA) and located at London ExCeL, will be a major European showcase for the sustainable waste and resource management sector and its major client base.
“The partnership between CIWM and ESA pools the expertise and influence of the professional industry body and the leading trade association for the sector. This will be a flagship event organised by the industry for the industry,” says CIWM chief executive Steve Lee.
“Major ESA members have already decided that this is the big stage that our industry needs,” adds ESA chief executive Dirk Hazell. “The sector is growing fast and UK expertise in the environmental field is increasingly in demand – Futuresource is the right setting for this dynamic industry.
Unveiling details of the event at an Exhibitor Open Date earlier this year, CIWM Chief Executive Steve Lee and ESA Chairman Richard Skehens explained that the name (pronounced Future Resource), reflects the fact that the future is about resources, whether man made or natural, and encapsulates the breadth and future direction of the sector, which is now expanding rapidly beyond its traditional boundaries.
The aim is to establish the event as a key diary date for companies and professionals involved in the sustainable management of waste and resources not just in the UK but throughout Europe and farther afield. Themed exhibition areas incorporating new sectors such as facilities management and energy and water management, coupled with a dynamic conference programme and the central location, are expected to attract a wider audience base from both the UK and abroad.
Many big names have already signed up, including SITA UK, Cory Environmental, Heil Europe, Valpak, Isuzu Truck (UK) Ltd, Liebherr GB Ltd, Ford Motor Company, Taylor, SSI Schaefer and Hadfield Wood Recycling. Even with the new extension, nearly half of the space is sold. 114 exhibitors have confirmed to date, and the line-up includes construction companies such as Fitzpatrick Contractors, environmental engineering and planning specialists such as Egniol Ltd, and new technology providers like Global Renewables UK.
“We are delighted at how the event is taking off. It shows that we are offering the industry what it wants and there is more to come too, with further announcements in the pipeline,” says Sarah Poulter, managing director of IWM Business Services.
