CIWM BRINGS IN THE BUSINESS

Once again this year, the CIWM Conference and Exhibition proved it was good for business, with many exhibitors reporting orders taken on the stand, as well as plenty of high quality leads.

Truck and bus company BMC UK Ltd led the way, taking orders for 26 of their new low entry chassis cabs, launched at the show, as well as 11 skip loaders and five buses.

“It is the most successful exhibition we have ever done with regard to committed orders taken on the stand, “ says John Mulkeen, Marketing Manager for BMC.

Stealing the quickest sale, Doornbos Equipment UK Ltd sold one of their V-Force 3000 ADR hazardous waste vacuum tankers within 11/2 hours of the show opening on the first day, while Scarab Sweepers Ltd scored in the export market with a £1/2 million deal with an Australian buyer.

Sean Hamilton of Farid Municipal Vehicles Ltd said this year had been a ”fantastic show“ for them. The company demonstrated a Scania low entry cab fitted with the their TISM22 refuse collection body and took three orders during the show, as well as orders for the Micro and Minimatic recycling vehicles.

Sales of material handling equipment kept pace, with Liebherr taking a firm order on the stand and three more in the pipeline and Recycling Plant & Equipment area sponsors JCB reporting lots of interest and high quality leads.

There was also plenty of interest in the big ’kit‘. Jeremy Farthing, Communications Director for thermal treatment specialists Advanced Plasma Power, said:
”As new exhibitors, we were delighted with the level and quality of interest and enquiries during the show – and we’ve already booked our stand for next year. “

Information was also a valued commodity at the show. Sub-it.co.uk, a new website designed to make subcontracting simpler, attracted many new subscribers and the company were delighted with the 700+ entries to their on-stand competition.

”With lots of new show features this year, and the most extensive conference programme ever, CIWM 2007 has proved that it is great for knowledge transfer, networking and customer entertaining and, importantly for our exhibitors, great for business,“ says IWM Business Services Managing Director Sarah Poulter.
