Like most professional bodies the Institution has a scheme of Continuing Professional Development. Members and Fellows are expected to demonstrate a minimum of 30 hours of CPD per year in a range of related of activities. The CIWM scheme is obligatory which means that it is considered a professional obligation to undertake CPD under the Institution's Code of Conduct, and part of the individual's professional responsibility to maintain standards by keeping up-to-date.
