You will be self-motivated and able to manage the Council’s former landfill sites in accordance with all current and forthcoming legislation. You must assist with the monitoring of the Waste Management/Recycling PFI contract. You will be involved in the restoration/maintenance and development works at the Council’s former waste disposal sites. Supporting the development, you will implement the Council’s Integrated Waste Management Plan/Waste Strategy, in accordance with the Area Waste Plan and Scotland’s National Waste Strategy. You will monitor the Waste Management/Recycling PFI contract and assist with the management of the Gas Utilisation and Contaminated Land projects. You must ensure relevant legislation, strategies and issues are interpreted and applied to front line operations.
You will have a range of technical and practicable Waste Management, or similar field based experience, and ideally an Environmental/Waste Management/Chemical related qualification. With good organisational, computer, written and communication skills, you will have the ability to show initiative. A driving license is essential.
Where appropriate, a relocation package may be offered.
